The Nintendo Switch may be lacking aesthetically in comparison to former handhelds such as the Nintendo 3DS.
However, that doesn’t mean that Nintendo isn’t trying to help us out by offering free downloads that can be used to jazz up our Nintendo Switch profiles.
On the subject of Mario, check out the trailer for Mario & Luigi: Brothership below!
I don’t know about you but being able to personalise my every belonging is one of the best parts of having them in the first place.

That is why I was disappointed to learn that I could not customise my Nintendo Switch digital profile the same way we could back in the days of the Nintendo 3DS.
However, it’s not all doom and gloom as Nintendo have been regularly releasing free downloads which consist of icons and backgrounds that celebrate our favourite games and characters.
This time, fans of all things Super Mario can get their hands on 20+ icons but don’t hang around, as they disappear on 14 October.
The icons feature characters such as Toad, Princess Peach, Luigi and of course Mario himself alongside some other familiar faces.

Each cost 10 Platinum Coins but don’t worry as these are one of two free currencies courtesy of Nintendo so there is no doubt that you have some saved up.
To access the icons, simply head to the Nintendo Switch Online tab on the handheld’s home screen.
Once here, you will find them via the ‘Missions & Rewards’ tab and once downloaded, they can be selected by clicking on your current profile picture.
Nintendo regularly cycles through icons celebrating different famous games so don’t worry if you miss out this time.

As well as Super Mario, there are also icons dedicated to Kirby, Splatoon, Animal Crossing and more so keep an eye on the Missions & Rewards tab as to not miss out.
