Fans of Mario can grab a bunch of freebies courtesy of Nintendo, with a set of lovely icons, backgrounds, and profile customisation options now available.
If you weren’t aware, Nintendo Switch Online features options to personalise your profile image using icons supplied by Nintendo, and featuring your favourite games.
Mario recently gathered his friends for another instalment of Mario Party.
As showcased on Twitter, the latest batch is Mario themed, likely to celebrate the mascot’s 40th birthday this year.

The options available can be claimed using Nintendo platinum points which are earned by owning certain games, filling in surveys, or completing campaigns.
Essentially, it's the console's free currency. Once you’ve earned your points, you can spend them on icons, backgrounds and frames, to make your profile look a little more unique.
Each icon option costs just 10 points, which are easily earned, and highlight many moments from Mario’s illustrious history. Frames and backgrounds will set you back five points.
The icons sweep through games such as Super Mario Odyssey and Super Mario Wonder.

You’ll also notice some great characters from the Mario Kart franchise, which has remained popular for decades.
It’s not just characters, there are plenty of key items that fans will instantly recognise from the world of Mario, and there are some colourful backgrounds and frames to really make your choice pop.
This feature is a great way to show off your favourite games, or just add a flair of personality to your online profile.
It's worth noting, you do have to be a Nintendo Switch Online subscriber to take advantage of this reward scheme.

You’ll find that Nintendo often change out what’s on offer when new games are released. For example, when Donkey Kong Country Returns HD launched, a wealth of DK icons were released too.
Keep your eyes peeled for plenty more to come over the year, as Nintendo will be discussing the Switch 2 and the games that will accompany that system in the coming months.
