Nintendo Switch 2 game pricing has fans wary following recent announcement

Here's hoping this isn't the start of a trend

Some big changes to how Nintendo Switch games are being priced is making folks worried about how much Nintendo Switch 2 games are going to cost - and with good reason.

Thank you in advance to Comicbook’s Tyler Fischer for the original source!

The well known Nintendo-leaker Centro Leaks is back with a non-leak-related story, and they bring nothing but bad news with them.

As Centro Leaks revealed in a recent Tweet, the price of Nintendo Switch games just went up across all of Latin America, and it’s got fans worried that the price of Nintendo games is set to increase across the board (in preparation for the release of the Nintendo Switch 2).

Using Pokémon Scarlet as an example, Centro Leaks notes that the price of Nintendo Switch games has increased by what seems to be roughly one-sixth (or to put that in dollar terms, an increase to roughly $69.99 from $59.99).

Here’s their rough comparison of price increases across Latin American countries: Brazil: R$299 to R$349. México: $1,199 to $1,399. Chile: $58,990 to $69,990. Peru: S/229 to S/269. Argentina: $57,669 to $69,819.

As Fischer notes, this price increase could simply be isolated to Latin American markets.

However, with the release of the Nintendo Switch 2 looming in the distance, it could also imply that Nintendo is eyeing up a price increase across the globe.

There’s no exact way to figure out which way they’re planning to swing it, but given that the Nintendo Switch 2 is supposed to be backwards compatible with Nintendo Switch titles, there is a good chance that these price increases could slowly begin to trickle out across other countries.

We’ll likely find out for sure when Nintendo shows off more on April 2, during the Nintendo Switch 2-focused Nintendo Direct showcase.
