As Nintendo Switch fans are well aware, we’ve seen the console successor, yet we’re still awaiting the final say on launch date and, of course, the price of the hardware.
Many fans have stopped speculating about the actual console itself, and the discussion has shifted over to the possible price points for the Nintendo Switch 2 and its software.
Switch 2 software prices could rise to the new industry standard
While Nintendo games have always held a high premium, the shift to a $70 price point hasn’t been actioned by the publisher and developer.

However, according to CentroLeaks, Nintendo has started increasing its software prices in Latin America, as well as the cost of Nintendo Switch Online.
Pokémon Scarlet and Violet are listed as an example, with several countries seeing an increase - Brazil: R$299 to R$349, México : $1,199 to $1,399, Chile: $58,990 to $69,990, Peru: S/229 to S/269, and Argentina: $57,669 to $69,819.
This could be an isolated price increase, but some gamers are wary that it’s a sign of things to come, and believe that Nintendo could embrace a higher price point for their upcoming games to boost profitability.
CentroLeaks went on to say, in their replies, “Switch 2 games will be even more expensive.”

That’s a pretty definitive statement, though it hasn’t been backed up by Nintendo themselves, we’re in the realms of speculation until a future Nintendo Direct sets us straight.
PlayStation and Xbox have both shifted to an increased price over the past few years, reflecting the fact that games are expensive to create, and the fact that rarely has there been an increase over the 30 years of games being mainstream.
Inflation has impacted pretty much every other form of entertainment, and games resisted for a long time.
It wouldn’t be a surprise for Nintendo to match their competitors, even if it’s only on first-party titles.
