Nintendo Switch 2 rumours have been circulating for quite some time now, yet there’s never been any hint of a possible release date… That is, until now. According to an online source, the release date is this year!
Not to behave like an excitable puppy, but that’s an extremely soon-release window even if it doesn’t release until the end of the year. Digital Trends shared the news after finding the launch date from a very unlikely source: AI Shark.
To mark the occasion, let's watch the Super Mario RPG trailer!
The revamped brand (previously known as GameShark) has made claims, in an official press release no less, that Nintendo’s Switch 2 will be out in time for Christmas next year. Already, we hear parents weeping at the prospect of buying a new console.

Originally, the press release read as follows: “Formerly known as GameShark, AI Shark is set to redefine the gaming landscape with its revolutionary AI-enhanced technology," It continued, "The innovative gaming software is set to mark a significant leap forward in the gaming experience, bringing enhanced gameplay for beginner-level users. The official launch is planned to coincide with the Nintendo Switch 2 in September 2024.”
Since then, however, a lot of backtracking has been done, with the press release now reading very differently and omitting any mention of a Switch 2. The statement now says that the launch is planned “in time for the holiday season 2024”.
From there, two separate AI Shark spokespersons have made two differing claims, with one saying the Switch 2 will launch in “Fall 2024”, while another said the company was guessing without any genuine information to support it.
It could be that our chains are all being yanked here, but after such a long wait already, we’re holding onto a modicum of hope that this 2024 release window is accurate.
