Sad news for Metal Gear Solid fans, as what should have been a glorious collection of the first three games has turned out a complete disaster.
Fans recently got their hands on METAL GEAR SOLID: MASTER COLLECTION Vol.1, a collection of METAL GEAR SOLID, METAL GEAR SOLID 2: Sons of Liberty and METAL GEAR SOLID 3: Snake Eater respectively.
Check out the collection below
While you’d think this would be the perfect deal for anyone familiar with the smash-hit Konami series, it’s actually led to immense disappointment, with many saying the quality of the collection is sub-par at best.

This largely relates to the PC version, with complaints flooding in regarding muddy textures, and poor resolution. It’s believed the games are displayed at a 720p resolution, despite Konami stating in the marketing they’d be at 1080p.
Fan reception is actually so bad, that many are saying the official collection is somehow worse than fan-made emulators, and not to buy the collection in its current state.
One negative review left on Steam read: “This release is absolutely poor and not worth its asking price in any capacity. Upon purchase, you'll find that the Metal Gear Solid Master Collection releases have no options of any kind for PC players.”
It continued: “No way to switch between windowed and full-screen (this feature will reportedly be added on a future update), no way to switch resolutions, no way to change audio settings, no way to change the size or aspect ratio of the screen, no way to change audio settings, no way to exit back to the menu while in-game, and so on. Even the most mediocre of remasters offer the bare minimum I have just listed here.”

Hopefully the upcoming METAL GEAR SOLID 3: Snake Eater remake and future Metal Gear collections receive the care and attention they deserve, lest Konami upset even more fans.
Konami has released a statement saying it plans to fix various issues found in the collection with post-launch updates.
