Hogwarts Legacy quietly releases free download you can grab now

Hogwarts is enrolling again

If the summer update for Hogwarts Legacy has left you feeling underwhelmed, it turns out another free download for the game has arrived.

You’ve likely missed this Hogwarts Legacy update as it’s been quietly released rather than shouted from the rooftops.

Before you get your hopes up that this addresses the distinct lack of content of the June update, we’re sorry to inform you you’re wrong.

Still, while it doesn’t deliver new quests or items, it tackles the issue that left users furious over their games breaking.

As the patch notes released by Warner Bros reveal, “This is a hot-fix patch aimed to fix a few persistent crashes, including the crash caused by enabling fidelity mode while raytracing is active on PS5.”

In case you don't know what the summer update for Hogwarts Legacy includes, here's a quick explainer

Unfortunately, though, not every instance of this unpleasant problem has been fixed.

“While this patch addresses multiple issues, there is one known crash that happens frequently on some systems that we weren't able to fix in time for this release,” the notes continue.

A potential “work around” has been offered, but it’s a temporary solution.

In addition to this, the update has helped iron out the wrinkles in the DLC, which are as follows:

  • Fixed instance where the Dark Lightning Broom could not be obtained when continuing a previous save after downloading and installing the latest patch. HL-18766
  • Fixed incorrect Arabic translation in circular taped glasses pop-up reward screen message.
  • Fixed instances where toggling the HIDE NPCs option [in Photo Mode] didn’t work with some students, dragons, dementors.
  • Fixed instances where lack of collision would allow players to see OOW through dungeons’ ceilings.

Despite not delivering exactly what all fans want, the majority of players appear happy with the patch thus far.

“Oh, now we're cooking!! Let's go!!” commented Twitter user Troy.

Another said, “Thank you! Been trying to play the game for weeks now I can get back into it today!”

Hopefully, you’ll be able to return to the halls of Hogwarts. Though, as previously mentioned, some of you might still be forced to turn your backs on your magical dreams, at least for now.
