Hogwarts Legacy surprise update quietly released, you can download now

Make sure you've downloaded the latest patch

Gather around, Hogwarts Legacy fans.

Avalanche Software has officially dropped a new free update for the game, although this one is PC only.

It certainly does feel as if PC players are having all of the fun these days, following the launch of the game’s official modding support back in January.

Advert

If you’re on PC, your game should update automatically, but it’s Hogwarts Legacy build version 1344582 that you should now have installed if you do want to check.

Let’s begin with localisation; this patch has “resolved download progress counter on mod cars misaligned in Japanese” alongside with some vague additional “general support”.

The largest number of changes fall in the category of UI.

I urge you to visit the update’s patch notes in order to see everything on offer, but I’ll pick out a few highlights.

Advert

You should no longer experience any issues opening the game’s privacy policy or terms of service, an issue has been resolved that made new gear default function as costume only, plus a problem has been solved where a prompt to restart the game after updating mods would not pop up.

It’ll take you four playthroughs to see all of Hogwarts’ house common rooms.

Text is no longer cut off or misaligned when using more than 109 characters, and category icons in the detail page should no longer incorrectly duplicate.

An issue where mods would not remain updated after exiting the details page has been solved, as has the issue where players could not deselect the report option.

Advert

You shouldn’t experience any further issues when adjusting the rating on a mod, and any error messages via CurseForge should now highlight the appropriate required fields, helping you figure out what’s gone wrong.

An issue has been fixed where ratings were cut off after reaching 1000 or more, and long mod names will no longer be cut off.

In terms of gameplay, custom fast travels have been fixed, as have instances where the basic attack left blank impacts on hit surfaces.

A couple of crashes have been seen to, and several text adjustments have been made.

As I said, there’s plenty more detailed in the lengthy patch notes.

It’s great to see Avalanche remaining so dedicated to the game. If only they’d lift the lid on that rumoured director's cut.
