GTA VII has been officially acknowledged by Rockstar Games’ parent company, a year before GTA VI is expected to launch.
According to the first trailer for the game, GTA VI currently has a Fall 2025 release window, though the exact month and day are unknown at the time of writing.

It’s taken a decade for the Grand Theft Auto to even come close to launching, and while fans have already started joking on when GTA VII will come out, it seems Rockstar Games’ parent company Take-Two Interactive is already getting the ball rolling.

It was shared on a Reddit thread that GTA VII was name-dropped in a recent interview with Take-Two Interactive, with fans of the series taking it as an opportunity to relentlessly mock the company and its ambitions.
One fan said “Can’t believe we got GTA 7 before GTA 6.” Another added that they “can’t wait to play this in 2041” and another speculated they’ll be “playing it when I'm 50.”
It’s no wonder they’re mocking it, as if Take-Two really is planning on pushing Rockstar straight into development of GTA VII we probably won’t see it until for a good decade or two, probably longer if we assume GTA VI will get post-launch support, which it will.
Despite the series’ popularity it’d actually be a shame if we got two Grand Theft Auto games in a row, as many fans are hoping Rockstar will revisit some of its more forgotten IPs like Bully, or start working on Red Dead Redemption 3.

While we don’t know what the future holds for Rockstar following the release of GTA VI, one thing is certain, the game will be milked for all its worth in microtransactions and it’ll be many years before we see another game from developer, regardless of what it is.
