GTA 6 trailer teases entire shopping malls to explore

Signs for shopping malls have been spotted in the GTA VI trailer, leading many to believe there’ll be explorable locations in the full game.

Signs for shopping malls have been spotted in the GTA VI trailer, leading many to believe there’ll be explorable locations in the full game.

Rockstar Games has seemingly outdone itself with the design of GTA VI’s open world. The developer has gone farther than it ever has before, boasting a map far larger than Red Dead Redemption 2 in size and scale.

See a glimpse of the open world in the below trailer for GTA VI

While it was reported GTA VI would see the return of Vice City as an explorable location, players will roam free in Leonida, which is essentially an entire US state inspired by real-life Florida. We saw as much in the recent trailer, as well as several easter eggs and references to real-life Florida memes and news stories, which fans are calling “too realistic.”

There’s a lot to unpack from the 90-second trailer, so we’d suggest checking out our list of 12 things you might have missed on your first few viewings. That being said part of the trailer we’re focusing on today is what appears to be signs explorable shopping malls will be included in the open world.

This was spotted by Bricknchicken on Reddit, who wondered “Could this be signage for a potential mall?” Fans who have played GTA: Vice City will undoubtedly know you could explore the North Point Mall, which housed several helpful stores that sold weapons, food, clothing etc. You could also rob them for petty cash.

Given how Vice City will be in GTA VI, and Rockstar is striving to push the limits of open world gameplay, fans are convinced this means shopping malls will return and can’t wait to see what they have to offer.

One fan said “Hoping it still has the 80’s mall music from Vice City…”

Another added, “I hope that shopping centre that's in the older Vice City games is included.”

Finally another hoped a shopping mall would feature “all types of stores ranging from clothes to gun stores. Jesus imagine a type of decoration store for customising your house/apartments that would be so sick.”

We’re bound to learn more when another trailer drops, though in the meantime, the release date for GTA VI is confirmed to be sometime in 2025, for Xbox Series X/S and PS5.
