The GTA VI launch date has been talked about rather a lot over the past week or two as industry sources reported that the game may be delayed beyond its broad 2025 launch window. This had fans in a bit of a panic as the game appeared to be slipping further from reach, despite the trailer and information that had already been unveiled.
Panic no more, as more industry insiders have come forward to comment that a delay is very unlikely and it’s “pure conjecture.” Here’s the thing, GTA VI already had a very wide window of release. It’s telling that Rockstar Games didn’t give a month, or even a quarter when the game could finally be played.
While we wait for a tighter release window, why not watch the stellar GTA VI trailer again
Creating games can be very turbulent and even the giants of the industry are susceptible to things that could delay a game, hence why GTA VI is coming sometime in 2025. The latest discussion on the planned release comes from Jason Schreier in his newsletter where he comments, “thousands of people” are working on the game with “many in their own silos where they are writing code for weather physics or recording actor performances or hunting for bugs on the streets of fake Miami.”

GTA VI was never going to be released in the opening months of 2025, it’ll likely come towards the latter half of the year, which gives Rockstar Games plenty of time to continue working. We’ll likely get a more exact date as we near the end of 2024, perhaps even as early as this summer. As Schreier notes, “But for now, there’s no indication that anything significant has changed.”
So, worry not, you’ll get your hands on the game soon enough and it’ll become a worldwide phenomenon with everybody playing it. Let’s get through this year first as it already has plenty to play.
