We have a lot to thank Ghost of Tsushima for.
It’s been four years since the open-world RPG launched, yet Ghost of Tsushima is set to return to us next month in a major way.
You’ve likely already been pulled back in by the new game plus mode that’s allowing players a new beginning without grinding the main story again.

During an interview with Star Wars Outlaws’ creative director, Julian Gerighty revealed that it’s the open-world action of Ghost of Tsushima that influenced their creative process.

“It's super interesting because my biggest reference was Ghost of Tsushima,” he explained to GamesRadar, “which is more on the Kurosawa side of inspiration than the Western, the John Ford side of the inspiration for George Lucas.”
If you’ve seen our preview of Star Wars Outlaws, you’d be forgiven for thinking that Red Dead Redemption influenced its creation.
After all, it has plenty of wild west elements in its gameplay and story.
However, while Gerighty notes that connection, it’s the fantasy of Ghost of Tsushima that acted as the “biggest reference”.

“This is the story, the world, the character, everything fits together with the gameplay guiding everything.
“That's the fantasy of 'you are a samurai ninja in Japan.' That was one of the guiding lights for this,” Gerighty added.
Star Wars Outlaws isn’t the Ghost of Tsushima sequel fans are crying out, however, its open-world journey is one that takes cues from the beloved title.
Consequently, next month, players will be treated to a comeback of sorts.
