Fallout 5's first major gameplay feature may have been confirmed

Fallout 5's first major gameplay feature may have been confirmed

It'll be a whole new world

Is a major feature many Fallout fans would love to see finally included in the next game?

Although there’s a lot Bethesda has got right in the Fallout franchise, there are elements that we’d like to see incorporated/changed to further improve the experience.

And while other Fallout 5 announcements may have been unkindly looked upon by fans, everyone is still excited about the next instalment in the series.

Part of the elation fans feel is at the thought of a new adventure to play through, however, excitement also comes from the possibility of a long-requested feature being included.

As you’ll have undoubtedly seen already, playing as a ghoul is being introduced in Fallout 76.

Not long now before we get to live out our best lives as a ghoul

Turns out, being almost killed by nuclear fallout is something many of us have been desperate to experience.

Variety is the spice of life, after all, and being irradiated would prove to be extra spicy.

Regardless of whether you’re keen to play as a ghoul or not, that option will soon become part and parcel of the Fallout experience.

Consequently, it feels all but officially confirmed that playing as a ghoul may feature in Fallout 5.

Before anyone gets angry, we understand that Bethesda has yet to confirm such a gameplay feature, and thus this may not happen.

That said, it’s not unreasonable to assume that it’ll be introduced in Fallout 5 due to the already warm reception it’s getting in Fallout 76 (and it’s not available yet).

As dasfuzzy explains, “Playing as a ghoul would come with some benefits and some drawbacks that could be very tactical to gameplay.”

Despite the opportunities – and drawbacks – such a character option would introduce into the game, some believe it’ll never happen.

“It sounds good but I'm not sure it would work. All it would take is to be a Ghoul in Power Armour, then everyone will tolerate you and ferals will leave you alone too,” reasons a since deleted user.

They continue, “Besides, Fallout has pretty much always been about being a vault dweller and leaving for the first time. Would be a bit weird if it was a Ghoul doing that.”

There’s also the issue of how Bethesda would manage the story depending on what origin you pick, ghoul or human.

One fan believes the publisher would essentially have to “make two games”.

Still, with Fallout 76 making Fallout history in allowing gamers to play as a ghoul, perhaps this is a feature we can expect to see return in Fallout 5.

We certainly hope so.
