Elden Ring: Nightreign has sparked interest in Dark Souls 4, and while some fans would love to see it happen others are content with letting the series go.
I’m unhealthily obsessed with Dark Souls, I’m replaying Dark Souls III right now and I routinely revisit the first game when I need a break from the latest AAA releases.
Seeing Dark Souls bosses return in Elden Ring: Nightreign has also got me more excited for the game, check out the trailer below
That said, while I adore the trilogy, even Dark Souls II, I’m content with where it started and where it ended, I don’t want Dark Souls 4.

Dark Souls III was all about letting go. The First Flame is dying once again and when you eventually get to the Kiln Of The First Flame you find it buried in ash from all the subsequent times the flame has been linked anew.
A fourth game would completely disregard the point the game was making in my opinion but some fans are still gunning for a continuation.
As much was said in a Reddit thread by Longjumping-Hunt8104 as fans claimed “DS3 wraps up the series in a pretty satisfying way” and “Elden Ring is basically DS4 anyways in terms of gameplay.”
“DS3 was already a nice conclusion to the series, I don’t think they’d make DS4” added another.

Finally one fan said no to Dark Souls 4, adding “the reason why is literally the plot of Dark Souls 3; it's a metaphor for this exact conversation.”
While I don’t think we need a Dark Souls 4 I’d still be down for a spiritual successor of some kind and I’m excited to see what exactly those Dark Souls bosses are doing in Elden Ring Nightreign.
As for as an actual sequel goes though, I’d be really disappointed to see a fourth game made that wasn’t some kind of reboot at least.
