They say all publicity is good publicity, even the bad, though we doubt Activision has felt that way since the launch of Modern Warfare III. Unfortunately, the bad streak looks set to continue after Call of Duty: Warzone is said to be “unplayable” since MWIII was released.
As far as Call of Duty goes, Warzone has been pretty well-received by the fandom, with Season 6 currently fully in effect. However, with the plan to integrate Warzone into MWIII as part of the new game’s Season One update, an onslaught of bugs has plagued the Warzone servers. The biggest of which is packet bursts.
If you haven't already, don't forget to listen to the Modern Warfare 3 dev interview!
“Trying to have a few games [of Warzone] tonight and the packet burst is just horrendous. Not even remotely playable,” said one fan to a Reddit post showing how glitchy Warzone has been since MWIII. Other fans shared their frustrations of having “every respawn, every gun pickup, kill/scorestreak” riddled with packet bursts, with the issue not only confined to Warzone but MWIII as well. “I’m getting packet bursts every game in respawn on MWIII PC,” revealed one gamer.
Basically, it’s a mess. How the tables have turned since players started calling Warzone 3 the “best battle royale ever” without it even being out yet. Hopefully, Activision can get back to its previous momentum, however, it looks like it won’t be happening any time soon, not unless these issues are fixed. Now it’s all about the blame game – what caused MWIII to be so bad, why was it rushed, and other such questions are circulating social media like vultures circling a dying animal.

With MWIII now officially the worst-rated game in the history of CoD, Warzone is spared that embarrassment. Still, if these issues continue, who knows, we could soon see the game topple from the unstable tower it’s been perched upon.
