It’s not a great look, but we’re not surprised to see the Call of Duty fandom collectively begging for the original Warzone to make a comeback. After all, who can blame them after the debacle of Modern Warfare III?
Ever since Modern Warfare III launched, it feels like it’s been one disaster after another for Call of Duty fans. From paying full price for nothing more than a DLC, to the rubber duck Operator announcement that has led fans to label the game “a joke”, all is not well in this community.
Just in case anyone wants to see what the Modern Warfare III launch trailer promised...
Given all that’s happened, and likely still to come, it’s unsurprising to anyone that gamers are begging Activision to make a return to what made COD great: the OG Warzone. As posted in a subreddit, “Covid Warzone was a simpler time”, which is a rare thing to associate Covid with anything simple.

Still, the nostalgia for something that only happened four years ago is strong, with the experience being referred to as “peak Warzone”. “It’s hard to grasp how special this was,” shared another reminiscent player. “The game had issues, but it felt like a fairly even playing field. It was the most fun I’ve ever had on a game.”
One fan took it to the extreme, though, as you’d expect with Reddit, and declared “I would pay $1000 for this right now. No sloppy seizure movement and ridiculous skins.” We’re not sure anyone at GAMINGbible is that passionate about Warzone, but we understand that it seemed to fare better back in the old days of 2020.
Should you want to return to the old ways, some mods, like Black Ops 2 Zombies, are available that recapture the glory days that seem to have been forgotten as Activision focuses on anything other than the satisfaction of its community.
Will the publisher listen? Probably not, but that won’t stop fans threatening to throw money at the issue until it’s fixed. We weep for their bank accounts.
