Not to discredit anyone’s progress in Baldur’s Gate 3, it’s just it’s highly unlike you’ve discovered this secret ending.

As far as we’re aware, no one has.

With so many routes to explore in Baldur’s Gate 3, it’s unsurprising that many rare discoveries have yet to be made.

Yet, while fans believe there’s more that Larian Studios can do with this experience, a recent Baldur’s Gate 4 tease has dashed hopes completely.

We still get excited when we watch the Baldur's Gate 3 trailer

Fans are heartbroken by the news.

Despite the wound still being raw, we must push ahead, for it’s now been a year since BG3 launched and our lives were forever changed by one sassy, sultry vampire.

To mark the occasion, Larian revealed a series of in-games stats to highlight the various choices players have made, alongside their discoveries.

These stats showed that only 34 players have unlocked the rarest ending of the game.

If you want to achieve what those 34 other players have, you must play as Lae’zel and choose to become a Mindflayer when given the chance upon releasing Orpheus.

If you later choose to kill Orpheus, you will be met with a dark and desolate end after Vlakkith ignores your request for ascension.

Unable to cope, Lae’zel takes her own life.

Not only is it a shocking conclusion to the game, but it’s also shocking how few have unlocked it.

Rare though that finale is, there’s one even rarer.

Think of this as the unofficial secret ending, for it can’t be unlocked by any conventional means.

However, YouTuber SlimX has found this secret hiding within the game’s files.

For this finale to activate, you need to leave Orpheus alive but also not become a Mindflayer; these two elements culminate in Lae’zel being rejected by Vlakkith while still remaining Githyanki.

Despite its existence, it’s one you’ll never see first-hand because leaving Orpheus alive rules you out for ascension, and if Orpheus becomes a Mindflayer, he decides to bow out on his own terms.

Neither ending is particularly positive, so we doubt you’ll be in a rush to try and do what (apparently) cannot be done.
