Assassin’s Creed Shadows, and a handful of other Assassin’s Creed games, are potentially being ported to the last console you’d expect.
The latest entries in Ubisoft’s flagship franchise have pushed the boundary of open-world gaming, getting larger, prettier, and even embracing the roots of what made it popular in the first place.

With Assassin’s Creed Shadows set to push things even further this year for Xbox, PlayStation and PC gamers, one must wonder what could be next for the franchise, and we might have just found out…

According to rumours, Ubisoft is considering porting Assassin’s Creed Shadows and some of the previous games to the Nintendo Switch.
The other titles being considered are Assassin’s Creed Origins, Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, Assassin’s Creed Mirage, and Skull & Bones.
Now I’m sure that’s setting off alarm-bells in your heads, after all, the Nintendo Switch doesn’t have a great track-record when it comes to third-party ports, though it’s clearly capable of supporting massive open-worlds, we’ve seen as much with Zelda…
If I had to guess, Ubisoft will consider cloud-ports of these games, which should work fine as long as you’ve got a decent internet connection while you’re playing.

Not the best solution in the world, but if it gets more people playing these fantastic games, minus Skull & Bones, that’s all well and good with me.
For the time being though take this news with a pinch of salt as Ubisoft is yet to confirm or deny anything, and if it truly is considering these ports, there’s every chance it changes its mind and drops them before announcement anyway.
In the meantime you can already play quite a few Assassin’s Creed games on your Nintendo Switch, including Assassin’s Creed III and my personal favourite Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag.
