Don't like the sands of time slip away on this

We have a new game to fawn over: Assassin’s Creed Shadows. And with this new hyperfixation comes the need to consume any and all related content.

Ubisoft dropping the Assassin's Creed Shadows trailer sent our hype into overdrive, with fans scrambling to learn more.

Since then, gamers have learned of the map size – it’s a hefty beast – and have also started to declare the game is “woke”, once again proving they don’t understand what the word actually means.

If you haven't already seen the Assassin's Creed Shadows trailer, you need to change that asap

There’s a lot of noise to cut through to find details unaffected by opinion.

Fortunately, we can point you to safe harbour.

Right now, you can claim an AC Shadows download for free, and seemingly without any work involved.

Originally, the freebie was meant to come as a reward for solving a puzzle. However, when we clicked the link, we simply got the rewards without having to put in any effort.

As far as free downloads go, this isn’t going to give you an edge when the game launches. Still, you can get the AC Shadows hourglass to show off on your profile. It’s a small win, but a win nonetheless.

Another victory we need to discuss is the fact that Ubisoft’s next AC instalment is coming sooner than we’d hoped.

All in all, it’s a fantastic time to be an Assassin’s Creed fan.

When you go to submit the code, you’ll be prompted to log into your Ubisoft account.

Once you’ve jumped that hurdle, you’ll be able to admire your new hourglass whenever you want.

Sadly, it isn’t all good news for Ubisoft gamers though, as the publisher has quietly cancelled one of its games after three years of development. When one door closes, another opens...

Yes, we’re getting an exciting new AC title, but at what cost? What did we lose?
