Despite the delays that have plagued Assassin’s Creed Shadows, fans are still prepping for its upcoming release.
Now scheduled to launch on 20 March, the road to reach this point – assuming no other issues arise – has been fraught with controversy and issues.
The last one, most notably, was yet another delay.

Even though fans want the next Assassin’s Creed title to be the best it can possibly be, a second delay caused concern.
Although we can’t speak of Ubisoft’s schedule or whether everything will go as planned, having previewed Assassin’s Creed Shadows, we strongly feel that this “could be the AC game of your dreams”.
It’s certainly going to be a hefty experience if nothing else, judging by its confirmed file size.
Undoubtedly, many of you are eager to stop reading about the game and start playing it.

Although we can’t magically make AC Shadows release sooner, we can inform you of a free download for the title that’s already available.
As detailed by E_L_2 on r/assassinscreed, a unique “bonus weapon” can be claimed ahead of the game’s launch.

Sprecher Brewery, in collaboration with AC, is allowing users to download a naginata for the game.
Before you rush to claim this freebie, bear in mind that only one free download per person is allowed.
Upon visiting the collab page, you need only add your name, email address, and phone number to claim the naginata code.
“Legitimately one of my favourite soda companies, what an odd collab,” remarked the_shadowy_death.

It does seem like an unusual collaboration, to be sure.
Nonetheless, it’s one that easily allows you to get a unique weapon for the upcoming title without spending any money.
Arguably, this is one of those times when we shouldn’t look a gift horse in the mouth.
There doesn’t appear to be a time limit on when you can claim a code, though we’d advise you nab this freebie sooner rather than later just in case.
