We’ve said it once, we’ll say it again, Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag is the best in the series and fans agree.
Black Flag remains one of the best entries in the Assassin’s Creed series and for good reason. Not only does it follow one of the most relatable protagonists ever written, Edward Kenway, it also boasts a stunning depiction of the Caribbean, complete with sunny beaches and nautical mayhem.

It’s honestly hard to believe Ubisoft hasn’t made a sequel yet, especially since open worlds have become a staple of the franchise. That being said, it's believed a full-on remake is in the works which will hopefully expand the map size and provide more opportunities to live out our own pirate fantasies.

Back to the topic at hand though, Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag was recently crowned the best game in the series on Reddit. User DeafPunter started opinion polls including every Assassin’s Creed game, ranking them from best to worst, with Black Flag winning by a hefty margin.
The game received 106 votes, followed by Assassin's Creed Origins, 43 votes and Assassin's Creed Odyssey, 41 votes. Surprisingly the popular fan-favourite Assassin’s Creed II only got 38 votes, and was tied with Assassin’s Creed III which got the same despite often being considered an inferior sequel.
Many were unsurprised by the listing, with one fan saying “Black Flag has always been the best game in the series,” though some were surprised to see the RPG games ranked so highly.
While they certainly have their fans, many have been hoping Ubisoft would lean back towards more linear stealth gameplay rather than open world exploration, a wish that was granted with Assassin’s Creed Mirage.

The next Assassin’s Creed game will be released later this year, Assassin’s Creed: Red, and will take the series to Feudal Japan for another open world adventure.
