Simon Pegg has responded to the overwhelming demand for a Shaun of the Dead sequel, and has simply told fans to “move on”.
Shaun of the Dead released in 2004, and stars Pegg as Shaun - a London salesman who gets caught in the middle of a zombie apocalypse, as you do. It’s an iconic comedy film, and so it’s little wonder that fans have been constantly questioning whether we’ll ever get a follow-up. Almost two decades on, and it sounds like the resounding answer to that, as far as Pegg is concerned, is no.
Take a look at the trailer for Shaun of the Dead below.
In an interview with The Guardian, Pegg claimed that Shaun of the Dead is “done”. He said: “Whatever Edgar [Wright] and I do next, we’re not going to rely on what we’ve done before. I like the idea of pissing people off. There’s something fun about torching everything. Everything that people think we are, that’s what we won’t be. We should just do something that no one’s expecting. But no one wants!”

He continued: “If I ever do an Instagram Live or whatever, people are always like, ‘I need Shaun of the Dead 2 in my life.’ And I’m like, ‘No, you don’t f***king need Shaun of the Dead 2! The last thing you need is Shaun of the Dead 2! It’s done. Move on!’”
So that’s that, apparently. Pegg has been busying himself with all sorts of other projects lately, anyway - he appeared in Hogwarts Legacy earlier this year as the voice of headmaster Phineas Nigellus Black, and he recently spoke about his return to The Boys, which he’ll be part of once again in the upcoming fourth season.
“I'm in about four episodes, and it was a joy to be back,” he said of his work on the superhero show. “It’s a great crew. They are an amazing bunch of people, and that show is sick as f**k.”
