A Call Of Duty game comes once a year, like birthdays, Christmas and the migration of wildebeest from the Serengeti in Tanzania to the Masai Mara in Kenya. This time, however, it appears that Activision is putting its standard yearly release plans in cold storage.
TheGhostOfHope, a leaker who has claimed that Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare II will also include all of the classic multiplayer maps like Terminal and Rust, recently took to Twitter again. “Treyarch have had their budgets approved for a two-year lifecycle on their next installment as part of Activision Blizzard’s three-year budget cycle,” they said, adding that this is subject to alteration based on the acquisition of Activision.
Here's the official reveal trailer for Modern Warfare II!
This corroborates Bloomberg's claims from February that the next Call of Duty title originally set for 2023 from Treyarch was delayed to 2024. Indeed, TheGhostOfHope agreed that this is likely a good idea to ensure the team's contentment and the games remain hitting that high quality that fans' expect. "I don’t know a COD studio more deserving of 2 years than Treyarch honestly," they said.

Moreover, the leaker had insinuated that there will be single-player campaign DLC for the new Modern Warfare II so players are satiated until the next entry is released. This would be bundled in with that aforementioned classic map pack and arrive some time in late 2023. Obviously, all of this is unconfirmed for the time being, so we should wait for acknowledgement from Activision.
