Cast your mind back to 4 October, 2023. The air is crisp, autumn is on its way. It’s almost the end of the working day and games journalists are beginning to wind down. That is, until CD Projekt RED decided to announce the entirety of its upcoming slate seemingly out of nowhere.
Let me tell you, it was a shock to the system. With a mighty Lightning McQueen-esque ‘kachow,’ we sprung into action. In case you missed it, CDPR announced a brand new Witcher trilogy, a new standalone Witcher title, a Cyberpunk 2077 sequel, a brand new unnamed IP, plus a multiplayer Witcher game and it’s the latter that we’ll be looking at today. Official details are thin on the ground but several new job listings could offer us a few hints as to what the multiplayer title might look like.
Take a look at The Witcher 3's latest next-gen update.
Reddit user Awkward96 gathered the information from several CDPR job listings including senior world designer, senior multiplayer designer, senior combat designer, narrative director and technical game designer. The multiplayer Witcher game is set to be “stylised” and will feature co-op and PvE. One listing also adds that it’ll contain multiple game modes and social activities, but those are your typical multiplayer must haves.

One job specifies that the game will have branching and non-linear storytelling, cinematic storytelling and voiced dialogue. All in all, it’s not too much to go on but the use of the word “stylised” is interesting. Test footage of the upcoming Horizon multiplayer game leaked earlier this week and it too has opted for a stylised approach. It’s as if someone combined Horizon and Fortnite together.
It’s early days so fans are largely reserving judgement on the game. MeCritic wrote, “Please make it The Division in The Witcher world,” while another user added, “Escape from Tarkov but mediaeval era.” It’ll be exciting to see what kind of a vibe CDPR goes for.
