As much as we’d all like a new game in The Witcher franchise, we’ve probably got a long time to wait.
CD Projekt Red is hard at work on the next trilogy based on The Witcher books and an ongoing property that has spawned several games, TV shows, and spin-off card games.
You next big fantasy RPG should by Dragon Age: The Veilguard if this trailer is anything to go by
Fans are, of course, wondering just how long it will be before we see the first game in the new trilogy rumoured to feature a new main character as Geralt takes a step back.

Despite a large portion of the developers workforce shifting over to Project Polaris, the codename for the upcoming Witcher games, one Redditor says, “Don't expect a release before 2026.”
To be honest, that’s being generous. If The Witcher 3 is anything to go by, the next one is going to be enormous and feature hundreds of quests and distractions.
Another user says, “My guess is the game is coming out at the earliest 2026 and 2028 at the latest. 2027 is probably the safest bet.”
Given the number of projects CD Projekt Red is working on, even that seems optimistic. We’ve still got to consider remakes and remasters of the earlier Witcher games, the Cyberpunk 2077 sequel, plus the multiplayer Witcher title long-rumoured.

A very generous estimate for the mainline project to be completed is 2032, which will be upsetting for many.
One Redditor breaks this down as such, “Witcher 4: 2026, Witcher 5: 2029, Witcher 6: 2032.”
It’s likely that the second and third games perhaps wouldn’t take as long, as much of the worldbuilding, story, and assets would be in place, but getting started is going to take the longest time.
So, if you’re holding out hope to see The Witcher return soon, it might be safer to just replay the other games for a while. At least until we get official word.
