Ubisoft has a lot on its plate right now, with a plethora of Assassin’s Creed titles in the works, not to mention a bunch of other things like Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, Star Wars Outlaws, Skull and Bones and Beyond Good and Evil 2 (which, believe it or not, is still in development after all these years).
Now though, it’s been claimed by prominent games industry insider Tom Henderson that a new Ghost Recon game is in development. The last one to release was Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Breakpoint, which received very lukewarm reception back in 2019, so it’s been a minute (although maybe that’s for the best).
Take a look at the trailer for Ubisoft’s open-world Star Wars game, Star Wars Outlaws, below.
Over on Twitter, Henderson wrote: “Ubisoft has a lot of good things in the works. I've heard great things about AC Red, Far Cry 7, Project Over (Ghost Recon) etc. but games like [Skull and Bones] and [Beyond Good and Evil 2] are like a big rock in the middle of the road that they need to get rid of ASAP [in my opinion]. Too many resources are being spent.”
Advert
This isn’t the first time that Henderson has spoken about a new Ghost Recon game apparently being in the works. Earlier this year, he stated that he thinks “it's forecasted for 2025 or so”. If this is true, then obviously we’ve still got quite a wait ahead of us before we can expect it to hit our screens. Hopefully, in that time, Ubisoft will be able to refine it enough to avoid the mistakes it made with Ghost Recon Breakpoint.
At the time of writing, Ubisoft is yet to confirm if these claims are true, so take them with a generous pinch of salt for now.
