Crash Bandicoot is a staple gaming mascot for many of us, and one that still holds up today. There’s no real worry that this beloved franchise is going away anytime soon, but it’s still nice to hear confirmation of when another new Crash Bandicoot entry is coming.
It’s been around two years since the release of Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time but what I’m sure pains Crash fans even more is that it’s been decades since a Crash Bandicoot multiplayer party game was put out into the world. That could be about to change as a brand new Crash Bandicoot multiplayer game is reportedly set for an imminent reveal.

Appearing on the Xbox Chaturdays podcast, industry insider Jez Corden confirmed that a multiplayer Crash Bandicoot game was in the works at Toys for Bob and suggested that the announcement could drop in one of this month’s various gaming showcases. Theorising about upcoming announcements, Rand al Thor 19 suggested, “I think Toys for Bob will show up with a new Crash game.”

Corden quickly responded saying, “New Crash? I wonder where he got that information. [...] I wasn’t supposed to leak that. [...] I think we could see another Crash Bandicoot. It’s not just going to be a new Crash Bandicoot, it’s going to be a multiplayer Crash Bandicoot. [...] It’s like a four-player brawler almost but Crash.” As with any rumour, this has to be taken with a pinch of salt until anything is confirmed by Toys for Bob but Corden sounds pretty convinced.
Crash has appeared in two multiplayer party games to date: PlayStation’s Crash Bash and the Nintendo DS game Crash Boom Bang. Everyone’s favourite Bandicoot is long overdue another multiplayer party entry then. Some fans are already theorising that the game could be a rebooted Crash Bash but there’s no real evidence on this. Either way, I’m very much liking this rumour.
