Modders are always bringing new life into older games, sometimes adding brand new features to the game, and now a modder has done the same thing to the original Crash Team Racing from 1999, adding online multiplayer to the game.
Crash Team Racing first released for the OG PlayStation way back in 1999, and sold over a million copies. After a new remaster brought fresh eyes to the game in 2019, fans have modded online multiplayer into the original release of the game so that fans can play with the original graphics and original controls. The title also has much higher frame rates than the original game has, along with better graphical fidelity than the original PS1 title.
You can download the mod through the development teams Discord server. The mod itself does require that you have the ability to rip the original game to your PC so that you can patch it, but it's well worth it for access to online multiplayer. There's servers across the world, and perhaps best of all, all characters and all tracks have been unlocked from the get-go, so that players don't have to mess around and unlock the specific characters that they want to play as with their friends.

The mod itself is made of over 650,000 lines of code, and according to the official website for the mod, the development team is also currently working on an online adventure mode, which isn't yet available in this version of the game, but will be released in a patch later down the line.
