If you were waiting for more adventures with Crash Bandicoot, then you’re going to be heartbroken by the news that a game was in the works but it was scrapped in favour of supporting live-service games.
According to a report by Liam Robertson Toys for Bob was working on a fifth Crash Bandicoot game but Activision canned it after they believed sales for the fourth game weren’t up to snuff.
We need more silliness and Crash Bandicoot in our lives
To make matters worse, the funds and staff were redirected to support live-service games instead.

If you want, I can make it even worse. According to this report, the fifth game was going to be a crossover with Spyro the Dragon in an adventure where their worlds are threatened and the two heroes team up.
I know, it would have made for a terrific platformer and been a huge hit for both nostalgic gamers and fans of cute adventures.
The team-up to end all team-ups. Spyro arriving on the scene would have been akin to Falcon turning up to support Captain America against Thanos.
Instead, Thanos wins and he snaps heartfelt nostalgia out of existence.

The idea is no more. Instead, we get regurgitated live-service nonsense that will be the flavour of the month before being dethroned by something else.
Am I bitter? You’re damn right I am. Not just because I grew up playing Crash Bandicoot and Spyro, but because the gaming landscape needs more adorable 3D platformers.
Oh well, at least Call of Duty can get another Warzone season, eh?
And I’m not trying to yuck you yum if you’re into Call of Duty, but there should be space for both of these things.

Anyway, let’s all make lots of noise about this and hope that Activision goes back on this terrible decision that stymies creativity and originality in the industry.
