The Last Jedi is a polarising film but if you ask me, director Rian Johnson is a genius. If The Last Jedi isn’t really your thing though, you need look no further than 2019’s excellent Knives Out. The film stars Daniel Craig as detective Benoit Blanc and as with any whodunnit, it’s one best approached with very little context. After all, part of the fun is trying to solve the mystery.
Lucky for us, Blanc is back in Netflix’s upcoming Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery. Starring a brand new ensemble cast, Glass Onion sees Blanc travel to a private island to assist in a murder mystery party gone wrong. Craig’s unique accent returns and the film has already landed a very respectable score of 93% on Rotten Tomatoes. If you’ve missed the film’s short theatrical run, it lands on Netflix on 23 December - and for us gaming fans, there’s a fun nod to Among Us.

That’s right. Crewmates and imposters officially exist within the Knives Out universe. Rian Johnson’s Glass Onion is set during the Covid-19 pandemic so, as reported by Comic Book, Benoit Blanc is left without any mysteries to solve so turns to video games. During one of the film’s opening scenes, Blanc can be seen in the bathtub playing Among Us.

His laptop screen reveals that he’s actually playing with four very recognisable famous faces, but I shan’t spoil those cameos. See? Benoit Blanc is just like us, filling his lockdown days with bean-shaped crewmates. With his keen eye, I bet Blanc would make an expert crewmate. I do wonder how he’d fare as an imposter though.
It’s not the only video game to get a pop culture reference as of late. God of War was recently name-checked in The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special which means Kratos is officially canon in the MCU. Who knew?
