Of all the games that are crying out for a remake or remaster, I think it's fair to say Need For Speed Underground 2 sits comfortably at the very top of the list.
It is, I think we can all agree, completely bizarre that the fan favourite Need For Speed has yet to be revisited. Publisher Electronic Arts is infamous for having perpetual dollar signs in its eyes, so quite how it has avoided the goldmine of remaking one of the most popular games of a generation is beyond us.
Take a look at the latest Need For Speed in all its glory below!
Heck, it's not like remakes and remasters are a foreign concept to EA. The Mass Effect trilogy was given a new lease on life in 2021, and we've even seen a few Need For Speed games remastered, including 2010's Hot Pursuit.

18 years on, the fans are still putting together their own remakes, imagining what Underground 2 would look like on a new-gen console. All this time later, and there are still tons of petitions and fan campaigns begging EA to hear them and bring back the classic game on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.
As one petition put together by fan notes: "What I want to happen is the exact same game, no new features, no new cars, no cops, same soundtrack, Riders on the Storm with Snoop when you open it, the same game but new 3D models and textures."
Will it ever happen? We can't say for sure, but I don't think we can ever properly rule it out. Hell, it took over 10 years to get a sequel to Dragon's Dogma, and a Super Mario RPG remake came out of nowhere earlier this year. If these things can happen, I think a remaster of Need For Speed Underground 2 is absolutely a possibility.
