Last week, we got the heartbreaking news that popular Minecraft YouTuber Technoblade (whose real name was Alex) passed away at the age of 23, after a battle with stage four cancer.
The content creator was loved by many - in his final message to his fans, which was read out by his father in a video titled ‘so long nerds’, he said: “Thank you all for supporting my content over the years. If I had another hundred lives, I think I would choose to be Technoblade again every single time, as those were the happiest years of my life.”
Technoblade was heavily involved with Hypixel, which is one of the world’s biggest Minecraft server networks. The founder, Simon, released a statement late last week, along with plans for a heartwarming memorial for Technoblade, and gift to his family.

“We at Hypixel are deeply saddened by the announcement released by Technoblade’s family that he has passed away after his long-fought battle with cancer,” he wrote. “He will be remembered fondly and missed deeply. He was a kind, talented, passionate young man with extraordinary potential. We are so thankful to him and grateful to have had him be such a prominent part of the greater community. In many ways, the success of many of us is tied to the success of Technoblade.
“With the consent of his family, we’ll also be establishing a tribute to Technoblade in the Hypixel main lobby,” he continued. “The memorial, which will be open until the end of July, will allow players to add themselves to a book of condolences. We’ll later have the book moderated, physically printed, and presented to Technoblade’s family.”
Now, in an update posted to Twitter, Hypixel Studios’ CEO, Noxy, revealed that so far, almost 400K people have left a message: “[Technoblade’s] final prank on Hypixel. 377,000 people have left messages so far, 45mil characters of text not inclusive of names, spacing and entry number,” they wrote. “Gonna roughly take 200 250 page A4 books to print it all out. For context - longest novel ever was [nine] mil characters.”
That’s a whole lot of love, and there’s still almost a full month for people to submit messages - be sure to do so if there’s something you’d like to say.
