The long-rumoured Metal Gear Solid remake is real, and coming exclusively to PlayStation 5, according to a new report.
Rumours of a remake of the 1998 PlayStation classic have been circulating for years now, and it's fair to say fans had started losing hope. However, a new update seems to suggest that the coveted Metal Gear Solid revival is very much in development and will be released exclusively for Sony's new-gen console.
This isn't the first time we've heard rumblings that the Metal Gear Solid remake is PlayStation-exclusive, and it certainly makes sense given the series' history on PlayStation consoles throughout the years.
Advert
AreaJugones reports that the remake is set to be announced "soon", which is why they've decided now was the best time to share their information. Unfortunately they have nothing more to say aside from the fact a Metal Gear Solid remake is apparently in development for PS5. This means we still have no idea who is developing it, or what it could look like.
Some fans believe that if this report is to be believed then we could see the remake shown off as early as this week during The Game Awards. However, host and organiser Geoff Keighley has himself played down expectations, suggesting a shorter show with less big-name announcements. Keep your expectations in check, basically.
Of course this is far from the first time we've heard about a Metal Gear Solid remake. Just last year, an Irish singer-songwriter appeared to accidentally confirm they'd worked on music for the game.
This, combined with the fact that Silent Hill is suddenly back in a big way, gives us hope that maybe Konami has actually remembered it has a back catalogue of absolute bangers that deserve to be revisited. Watch this space.
