Fans excited for the Max Payne remake are feeling the hype after Remedy reveals that it is aiming to make it “excellent” following a meeting with Rockstar Games.

It is hard to believe that it has been 23 years since Max Payne was first released with Max Payne 2 following just a few years later.

Developed by Remedy Games before being taken over by Rockstar Games for Max Payne 3, the original games revolutionised the third-person shooter genre by introducing the first implementation of the bullet-time mechanic.

Unfortunately, after being taken over by Rockstar, the series took a bit of a nose-dive but all of that is soon to be rectified as Remedy is returning to bring us a Max Payne Remake.

Just a few weeks ago, Remedy announced that production is going well on the remake and that it is hitting important milestones in the project.

Now the studio is back again with another update and it seems as though the remake is going from strength to strength.

After a recent presentation discussing the future of Remedy, CEO Tero Virtala said the following:

“Max Payne is a perfect fit for us. Even though owned by Rockstar Games, Max Payne 1 and 2 were created by us, that we love, many of our developers are passionate about.”

Additionally, Virtala said that the remakes “can both utilise and build synergies in the same way that any other Remedy game does”.

Most importantly, however, is Remedy’s main goal when it comes to remaking the iconic games.

“With partner franchise, our primary goal is very clear and simple: to create an excellent, commercially successful Max Payne Remake”, Virtala explained.

The news has fans feeling hyped and they took to r/PS5 to share their thoughts.

“Never bet against Remedy if quality of games is the concern. Sales are a different thing though,” the top comment read following the news.

Another said: “Well.. this game (and MP2) were really big for me when they were released.

They made me go for more mature games, with more complex stories. A turning point and a very nostalgic feeling attached.

I really hope that they do good for this masterpiece.”

With the remake still in production, it may be a while until we see the Max Payne Remake.

However, it is good to know that Remedy and Rockstar are dedicated to making it as good, if not better, than the original.
