Marvel Studios boss, Kevin Feige insists that we’ll never get tired of superhero movies and to be fair, the numbers don’t lie.
At the time of writing, 11 out of the top 30 highest-grossing movies are Marvel or DC adaptations. Sitting highest in the charts is Avengers: Endgame, only beaten by James Camerons’ Avatar. However, let’s be honest, the only reason Avatar tops the charts is due to James Cameron re-releasing it at cinemas for the 1, 069th time.

When speaking on The Movie Business Podcast, Feige spoke about his love for the Marvel Cinematic Universe and how it has evolved into the worldwide goliath that it is today.
“I’ve been at Marvel Studios for over 22 years, and most of us here at Marvel Studios have been around a decade or longer together,” Feige explained. “From probably my second year at Marvel, people were asking, ‘Well, how long is this going to last? Is this fad of comic book movies going to end?'”
The topic of conversation changed to whether the Marvel Cinematic Universe could ride the wave of popularity for years to come.
“I didn’t really understand the question. Because to me, it was akin to saying after Gone With the Wind, ‘Well, how many more movies can be made off of novels? Do you think the audience will sour on movies being adapted from books?” replied Feige.

He continued: “You would never ask that because there’s an inherent understanding among most people that a book can be anything. A novel can have any type of story whatsoever. So it all depends on what story you’re translating. Non-comic readers don’t understand that it’s the same thing in comics.”
Phase Three of the MCU concluded with Spider-Man: Far from Home, during what is considered to be the MCU's golden age so far. The likes of Avengers: Endgame, Infinity War, Black Panther and more earned great box office success. While being a less busy period of cinematic releases, likely due to the COVID pandemic, Phase Four garnered a lot of success with Spider-Man: No Way Home, Thor: Love and Thunder as well as Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.

However, Phase Five will surely be a telling era for the MCU which begins with Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania arriving in cinemas next month, followed by Guardians of the Galaxy vol.3, Captain America: New World Order and more.
Will fans ever get bored of comic book and superhero adaptations? Only time will tell. However, we think it’s fair to say that the MCU will be around for many years to come. Unlike Marvel’s Avengers from Square Enix and Crystal Dynamics, which is being killed off just two years at its release!
