If you’re not a reader of Marvel’s comics, you might have missed that the company has a (relatively) new Ultimates line of stories, taking the action to a new universe.
In the new Marvel ultimate universe, characters are often heavily tweaked from the familiar, sometimes seeing heroes and villains as completely different people.
The new Black Widow differs a little from her MCU iteration
Over recent months, Ultimate Wolverine launched, bringing with it a new look for the clawed mutant, and two of his allies.

Both Kitty Pryde and Gambit appear in the latest issue, Ultimate Wolverine #3, but Black Widow has also popped up in the pages.
You might be wondering why. Wolverine and Black Widow have been dipping in and out of each other’s stories for years.
In fact, Wolverine and Captain America once saved the life of Black Widow when she was kidnapped by The Hand.
That was in another universe, however, and her entry into the Ultimate line-up is quite mysterious, so far.

In the latest issue, Kitty and Gambit have bought the services of Black Widow, now named Natasha Romanova.
Natasha is simply a driver to the mutants, but there are details in the issue that point to her usual spy background, as part, this time, of the Eurasion Alliance, who are after the mutants.
This Black Widow looks very similar to the one fans are used to, but as she’s only on a few pages of the comic, not much is known about her history.
Will this iteration of the character be a graduate of the Red Rooms? Will she have any form of superpower?

Playing it cool and mysterious, Romanova is revealed to be Black Widow, but she doesn’t get stuck into any fights here, not quite yet.
More will be revealed in the next issue, and hopefully Marvel has shaken up her origins.
