There’s a certain irony that is apparently lost on Sony, of creating an AI iteration of their iconic character of Aloy - a character known for fighting against the of machines and AI-driven enemies.
If you don’t know what I’m talking about, let me inform you. Sony have seemingly created an AI version of Aloy from Horizon Zero Dawn, shown in a YouTube video, talking in real time to a developer.
Horizon Zero Dawn's Aloy has a very creepy and pathetic AI counterpart, for some reason
The video has been hit with a DMCA, so it’s much harder to find now. Thankfully, you can find Aloy chatting inanely about having a sore throat over on Twitter.

The footage is horrendous, and only furthers the sheer pointlessness of AI in video games, removing any heart and soul from a character.
I’m not the only one disgusted by the video clip - fans are not happy.
“I'm sorry, but I'm not going to buy a game made by AI, because that's not art,” said one Blue Sky user after the footage was posted to the social media platform.
Other comments on Blue Sky range from the simple, “Yeah. No thanks,” to more savage take-downs saying, “F**k generative AI slop!! And using my f**king QUEEN to show it off!”

Over on Twitter, fans are feeling the same way.
“Are Sony totally oblivious to what Horizon is about? Aloy is the result of a heroic act that aimed to fight back against AI that seeks to decimate humanity,” said one fan of the franchise.
AI slop is slowly finding its way into more and more games, and while I’d love to rail against the idea, I’m not sure it would get me anything but more annoyed.
Taking away work from genuine creatives - folks who can push the industry forward with imaginative innovation - and letting AI run rampant is not going to make games more profitable.
