There are simply too many video games these days.
I get that's a very good position to be in, on the whole, and I'm not really complaining, but it does mean there are lots of smaller games that all too often get lost in the mix.
One such game released towards the end of last year, and definitely deserves your attention - especially if you're a fan of games like Hogwarts Legacy, Skyrim, and Valheim.

The game in question is called REKA. Developed by a small studio called Emberstorm Entertainment, it's a wonderfully cute little adventure that, despite being in Early Access, is already showing a lot of potential.
Here's the game's Steam synopsis: "Channel your inner witch! Build your cozy chicken-legged hut, practice witchcraft, and forage for ingredients in autumnal woodlands. Solve quests & uncover the great mysteries of the legendary witch Baba Jaga."
If you've played any survival crafting games before, you'll be at home with REKA's core loop. Gather, survive, build, and constantly upgrade. What really sets REKA apart is its striking fantasy world, which is an absolute treat to explore.
"For an early release game it's fantastic," reads one Steam review.

"If you enjoy building or decorating this is 100% for you. The mechanics for both are great and allow a lot of creativity, plus there are SO many items I've been playing this since it came out and I'm still finding new stuff. Cant wait to see more updates and the full release."
"I've had a few bugs that were easily fixed with a restart," another adds. "I love the premise of the game! Building up your chicken-legged house is so satisfying. The randomly generated worlds are a beautiful touch, every map is different and it gives me a sense of actual exploration."
So, if you're looking to scratch that survival RPG itch, you could do a heck of a lot worse than REKA.
