Nothing says celebrating the Christmas period like booting up a brand-new RPG to get lost in and this new release fits the brief perfectly.
Set to be released fully some time in the future but now available to play via a free play test, Bladesong is a medieval RPG that combines the magic of others in the genre such as The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim and Valheim.
If you want something a bit similar but with a bit more action, check out the trailer for Valheim below!
However, this one has a slight twist as the main goal of the game is to become the best swordmaker around.

Developed by Sun and Serpent Creations, Bladesong is a “unique swordmaking game with unprecedented customisation options.”
It will be your job, as the local blacksmith, to create customer commissions which match their physical and stylistic requirements in order to create a sword unlike any other.
As your client base increases, you will be able to design any type of sword, access even more customisation options and forge legendary weapons.
By extending your forge, you will soon become a master swordsmith which in turn, will give you access to magical secrets that will help your swords become feared on the battlefield.

Whilst toiling away in Eren Keep, you will get to meet the most loyal of companions and even cunning adversaries as you work in the last bastion of humanity following the departure of the gods who have left mortals to fend for themselves.
Luckily, this means you are about to get a whole lot more work.
As mentioned, the play test is now available to join but you will have to request access on the Bladesong Steam page first.
It is currently unclear as to when Bladesong will be released fully but the play test will not only be the perfect way to explore the game beforehand, but also offer valuable information and thoughts to its developers.
