Hogwarts Legacy apparently runs better on PlayStation 5 than Xbox Series X|S, according to reports.
In an article from Game Rant, technology experts, Digital Foundry, discovered that PS5 players will be having a better time than those on Xbox when exploring the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.
Digital Foundry described the PS5 version of Hogwarts Legacy as being stable at a “nearly locked” 60FPS on Performance Mode which favours framerate over visuals. However, those playing on Xbox Series X|S are apparently in for a “very shaky” experience.

Furthermore, it is also claimed that Hogwarts Legacy players will encounter the biggest dip in framerate when coming into the Hogwarts building from outside. However, it’s not all doom and gloom for Xbox players.
When testing Hogwarts Legacy on the other display options, both the PS5 and Xbox Series X are said to perform at a similar level. The other two options are Fidelity which is a: “rendering mode favouring resolution and graphical quality. Whereas Fidelity with Ray–tracing does exactly what it says on the tin.
So why does the PlayStation 5 outperform the Xbox Series X in the performance department? According to Digital Foundry, it all comes down to the PS5s custom SSD which allows games to run faster and at a more stable framerate. At least that’s the general consensus.
Thankfully, Avalanche Software is aware of the performance issues for Xbox Series X|S, as well as PC and a patch is expected to release at a later date to fix the reported issues.
