The halls, classrooms, and corridors of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry are busier than ever - all thanks to the fact that Hogwarts Legacy has finally been released on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. We’re now only waiting on Nintendo Switch players, who can join in the fun on 25 July.
I say busier than ever, to put figures to that, Hogwarts Legacy has made over $1 billion. It’s no surprise then that a sequel is already being teased. It was originally rumoured that Hogwarts Legacy may be getting the TV adaptation treatment, but Max has now confirmed that it’s the original Harry Potter books that they’re adapting. As popular as Hogwarts Legacy is though, there’s definite room for improvement. From a playable version of Quidditch to a companion system, players keep finding hints that reveal what content was possibly cut from the game by devs - and today is no different.
Enjoy a tour of Hogwarts’ four house common rooms below.
The cut content was found by YouTuber GrandTheftDiamonds through datamining, and was later shared to Reddit by IamWatchingAoT. They wrote, “According to the game’s files, it seems there was a lot of cut content that would have made the game truly special. The cut content found in this video [...] includes things like a reputation and morality system similar to Red Dead Redemption’s Karma system. Instead of Karma, you would lose House Points.”

“In the video, you can see you lose 100 points for casting Avada Kedavra, 50 points for Imperio, 25 for Confringo,” they continued. “The most interesting part for me is, first, the amount of cool spells that were cut from the game such as Accio Maxima, Aguamenti, FiendFyre, the Bat Bogeys curse, [and] the tripping curse. Secondly, it seems a plethora of activities that would have significantly improved immersion in the school were cut from the game as well.”
“You could attend classes regularly and choose whether you'd be a clown, lazy, troublesome, etc. You could commit crimes which would include theft, breaking and entering and extortion; You could bully and harass your classmates or protect them from that; You could study, gossip and even get drunk.”
How great would it be to see Hogwarts Legacy’s true potential achieved by including all of these features? I’m unsure we’ll see any of these things patched into the game, but I’d imagine the sequel could shape up to be something special.
