Hogwarts Legacy fans on Xbox were surprised with a free and unexpected download. Who doesn't like a freebie?
Hogwarts Legacy is a popular action RPG set within the Wizarding World that was released in February this year that had amazingly outsold the lifetime sales of Elden Ring in just five weeks. For many, Hogwarts Legacy is already a strong contender for game of the year in 2023.
Much of the early success of Hogwarts Legacy is due to the ever popularity of the Harry Potter franchise and devoted fans would need little convincing to explore the digital school of Witchcraft and Wizardry. However, fans on Xbox were treated with a nice bonus for purchasing the game from Avalanche Software.

Released in 2002, for some, Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone is considered to be not only the best book in the franchise, but also the movie series too. We would like to say the same about its PS1 counterpart, but we all know that’s not true. That being said, if it wasn't for the first Harry Potter game on PS1, then we never would have cursed Hagrid.
Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone on the Xbox Marketplace has an RRP of £7.99/$7.99 to buy or £4.99/$3.99 to rent. It might not be a luxurious freebie, but it’s a welcomed freebie nonetheless. So keep an eye on your Xbox inbox, just in case.
When does Hogwarts Legacy come out on Nintendo Switch and last-gen consoles? Hogwarts Legacy is out now for PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X/S. It will then release on 5 May for PS4 and Xbox One, followed by Nintendo Switch on 25 July.
