Grand Theft Auto VI’s second trailer continues to elude us.
Will that change soon? You’d certainly hope so given that we’re potentially less than 10 months away from the game’s release.
Of course, Rockstar Games is yet to confirm the exact launch date but if we’re going off the vague window of ‘fall’, it’s certainly not going to launch beyond November.

That’s if it isn’t delayed.
But if GTA VI is on track, well, that marketing is going to have to ramp up at some point in the next couple of months.
In the meantime, fans have taken to doing the only thing they really can do other than wait: analyse the game’s original trailer.
And while you may have memorised every single frame, you may have overlooked what they reveal about GTA VI’s potential features.

Before we dive in, take a look at GTA VI’s trailer in action below.
It was Reddit user godsxm who pointed out the likely features, starting with procedural generation.
This is something we’re fairly familiar with now and essentially consists of the game engine generating new environments, like Starfield did with so many of its planets.

User godsxm believes the inclusion of this to have been proven by the fact that various apartment balconies are each shown to have unique decor.
While I can sort of see the line of reasoning, I’m not entirely convinced that’s proof but I do believe there’ll likely be some element of procedural generation at play somewhere in the game.
The user also believes the trailer to have evidenced the inclusion of volumetric clouds, volumetric smoke, ray-traced shadows, ray-traced reflections, and “subsurface scattering” - most of which are also elements we’re expecting to see (I’m dubious about the latter).
Finally, the user points to the trailer’s impressive “jiggle” and hair physics and while I won’t delve too far into the former, I will say that Lucia swishing her hair looks pretty darn nice with no clipping in sight.

While, of course, these “features” are deduced rather than definitively proven, it still feels that this is likely a glimpse into what we’ll soon hear Rockstar talking about when it eventually opens-up about the game.
It’s also worth pointing out that many of the elements touched upon by godsxm are used in the current generation, which is what GTA VI is due to belong to.
That being said, I do think things like procedural generation and ray-tracing are elements that’ll continue to improve and dominate the conversation when it comes to next-gen titles.
Could this be a stab in the dark carried out in order to drum up hype? Perhaps, but it’s a welcomed reminder that Rockstar will really be aiming to push the boat out with this release so whatever features are in store, they’ll be sure to impress us.
