There can't be many Harry Potter fans out there who haven't played Hogwarts Legacy yet, but those that haven't can get stuck into a late Christmas treat before the new year kicks our butts.
If you've been following Hogwarts Legacy, you'll know the open-world adventure has sold roughly a gazillion copies and is already generating sequel discussions. But if you've been too busy to take a look at the Harry Potter RPG, I'm delighted to tell you it's currently free to download and play for certain users.
Take a look at Hogwarts Legacy in action below!
PlayStation users can get stuck into the opening moments of Hogwarts Legacy now thanks to a free trial, although this comes with some troll-sized caveats.

Hogwarts Legacy is available to play for free via PlayStation Plus Premium's Game Trials feature, which is not... a popular feature. Game Trials are available for PlayStation Plus Premium subscribers, effectively giving them the chance to go check out certain releases. They're demos you have to pay a subscription for, effectively. But, if you're already subscribed to PlayStation Plus Premium for the classic game catalogue, you might as well check this out.
It is also my solemn duty to point out this trial lasts a grand total of 45 minutes, during which I can almost guarantee you won't even make it to the open world. Maybe you can speedrun it, but I'd be inclined to doubt it.
When you compare this to the five-hour trial for Cyberpunk 2077, it's hard not to blast Hogwarts Legacy as just a little bit stingy. 45 minutes is nowhere near sufficient time to get a feel for an open-world RPG, let alone one that forces you to play through a lengthy prologue.
Still, if you're really keen to get a feel for Hogwarts Legacy and refuse to pay money for it, this is your best bet for now.
