Since its release in 2023, fans of Hogwarts Legacy have been begging for a sequel or a DLC or an expansion… or anything.
However, with Avalanche Software only releasing an underwhelming summer update back in 2024, it seems as though the pleas are going unanswered.
Or are they?

Check out the summer update for Hogwarts Legacy below!
According to a report by Tom Henderson in late 2024, the Hogwarts Legacy Definitive Edition is in development.
The report by Insider Gaming reveals that this brand-new edition is not only in development but its content will be sold as a separate DLC for players who already own the base game.

With around 10-15 hours of additional content, the Hogwarts Legacy Definitive Edition will feature new story quests, side quests, activities and cosmetics.
The only catch is that we are currently unsure as to when it will be released but with the report guessing at a 2025 release, we can expect an official announcement soon.
With Hogwarts Legacy cementing itself as one of the best-selling games in 2023 with over 24 million copies sold as of January 2024, it is no surprise that Warner Bros. is wanting to continue cashing in on the hype.
Until then, news of the possible definitive edition took to r/HarryPotterGame and it seemed as though fans were feeling quite divided over the new content.

“It’ll be a contrived storyline when what people actually want is a more interactive world,” Table_Coaster commented.
Another user added, “At least we are getting something. Better than nothing but still, two years later is crazy.”
User HandsomeSquidward20 had some ideas about how the new content could improve on Hogwarts Legacy:
“More roleplay and RPG elements. I don’t care whether they add a lot more to the story or not. I need the full Hogwarts experience.”

It remains to be seen if Hogwarts Legacy Definitive Edition will take all of this onboard but with Avalanche Software keeping quiet about the potential project, it is unclear if we will even get it at all.
