In recent years, The Last Of Us has become a pretty controversial franchise. Was The Last of Us Part I necessary? Is Part II really a masterpiece? Both are pretty major debates amongst folk of the internet. If you’re wondering, the correct answers are: yes and yes.
Moving on though, one opinion that we can all agree on is the fact that HBO’s upcoming adaptation of The Last of Us looks incredible. The first teaser trailer was dropped just last month, with the show slated to release in 2023. Whilst we await a specific release date, one fan has taken it upon themselves to recreate the trailer in Part I and the results are incredible.

YouTuber 50calbullet has recreated the HBO trailer shot for shot using Naughty Dog’s new-gen remake of the first game, The Last of Us Part I. Just as we hear in the HBO trailer, 50calbullet’s recreation uses Hank Williams’ ‘Alone And Forsaken’ as its soundtrack. Fans will recognise the song from the Pittsburgh section of the game. Take a look at 50calbullet’s project below.
The fan-made trailer brings home just how faithful HBO’s adaptation appears to be, with many game and TV shots matching one another perfectly. All in all, this is top notch work.
Advert
In case you missed it, HBO’s adaptation is also set to feature game actors Ashley Johnson and Troy Baker in key undisclosed roles. Fans have also noticed that one major character is yet to make an appearance. Could this prove that the show will feature at least one plot departure? We’ll have to wait until next year to find out.
