A week ago today, we finally got confirmation that GTA VI is, in fact, in active development. Took them long enough, huh? Given that it’s been over eight years since the release of GTA V, it’s safe to say that fans have been very ready for the news for quite some time now.
According to Take-Two, the game is going to have a large focus on single-player, but apart from that, and the fact that it is actually happening, we basically know nothing else about it. That, though, is where all the insiders and leakers come in to dish the details - and as you’d expect, they’ve been busy.
Before we go on, be sure to check out some of our favourite GTA V wins and fails below.
As reported by Sportskeeda, a very prominent Rockstar Games insider, Tez2 (who also previously said that the game would be confirmed this year), has claimed that we might be getting our first trailer for the game this year. And not just a simple logo reveal, or fancy CGI trailer, no. This is set to be an actual, full-blown gameplay trailer - which hopefully means the actual game isn’t too far away.

These claims were dropped in a discussion thread on GTAForums, and shared on Twitter by @NEWSLEAKSGTAS. Tez2 wrote: “Just expect the usual initial announcement we are used to this year. Work in progress materials. Like the first GTA V trailer.”
Of course, the leaker hasn’t specified when exactly we can expect this trailer to drop, and given that we have over 10 months of the year left, there’s a decent window for it to happen. As reported by ComicBook though, Rockstar Games does seem to have a bit of a trend of revealing games in autumn - GTA V, for example, was revealed on 2 November 2011, and Red Dead Redemption 2 was shown on 20 October 2016. So, whether we might get our first look at the long awaited next instalment then too remains to be seen, but it seems fairly likely.
In the meantime, GTA V: Expanded and Enhanced edition (a.k.a. the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S port) is set to launch on 15 March, if you’re really craving playing the same game yet again. Fans have been disappointed with basically everything that’s been shown about it so far, with it not really looking any different to the ports which released on the previous-gen consoles. But hey, it’s happening, so if you’re interested in picking that up, there’s not long to wait now.
