The second trailer for Grand Theft Auto VI has driven the internet mad over the past few months, but at least we got something wholesome out of the lunacy.
Over on the r/GTA6 subreddit, one user posted a thread titled “I am so confident that we WON'T get news tomorrow that if we do, I will donate 500 pounds to Macmillan Cancer Research UK” on Thursday.
This is a reference to the fact that, once again, the r/GTA6 subreddit had fooled themselves into believing that a second trailer for Rockstar Games’ Grand Theft Auto VI was set to drop on 27 December.

As you can probably tell, a second trailer never came to pass. The community had successfully gaslit themselves for the umpteenth time.
However, even though the original poster didn’t end up donating due to the lack of the aforementioned trailer, it seems they did serve as an inspiration for others.
Two days ago, the original poster TrenWillFixIt returned to reveal that several users had donated to the Macmillan Cancer Research charity in their stead.
“Unfortunately rockstar didn't put out any news,” user TrenWillFixIt revealed, “but I need to thank everybody who messaged me and said they were going to give to the Macmillan Cancer Group.”

ICYMI: Check out the game's original reveal trailer.
“Every month I have donated 50 pounds towards the cause and after my post, multiple people messaged me saying that they were giving anything they could. I encourage people to give anything they can... Next time there's another massive theory, you'll see me here.”
A rare wholesome display from the most unhinged community on the internet, what a nice way to round off the holidays.

Would be nicer if we could round it off by watching a second trailer for Grand Theft Auto VI but hey, I’m sure we’ll get it next year… I mean if we don’t, something has seriously gone wrong so maybe I shouldn’t jinx it.
