GTA VI could be playable right now at this very moment. Given some of Rockstar Games’ recent behaviour, that could feasibly be the case.
As far as we know, the game is still scheduled for a fall release, though at the time of writing, Rockstar is yet to confirm which month.
We’re still waiting for that second trailer though, which will likely give us an official release date as well as more gameplay than the first trailer.
Fans eagerly awaiting GTA VI continue to speculate what playing the game could be like, with some believing work on the game has officially concluded with only patching and bug-fixing remaining incomplete.

A former Rockstar Games developer, Mike York, seemingly confirmed this in a recent interview with Kiwi Talkz, saying, "I would assume that the game's probably playable now, and a bunch of people are testing the whole thing all the way through.”
Interestingly, that interview was unlisted shortly after being published, whether it be due to factual inaccuracies or at the request of Rockstar Games itself, it's unknown.
Fans have been discussing the interview online though, with many taking York’s words as fact that the game is indeed finished.
“They probably were in this position before the first trailer too. If it were an EA or Ubisoft game, it would have been released already” said one.

Others lamented that there are people out there, mostly devs but possibly some game-testers too, that are “playing GTA VI everyday”.
Rest-assured though we haven’t got that long to wait. We’re already in February and with a second and possibly third trailer on the way, the marketing should comfortably carry us through to launch day.
Personally, I’m looking forward to seeing just how big the new open-world is, but more importantly how much side content there is to enjoy when you’re not playing through the main story.
