One of the dumbest people on the planet has decided to weigh in on the rumoured $100 price tag for Rockstar Games’ upcoming title Grand Theft Auto VI, which has caused thousands of people online to snap back at them in disgust.
Thank you in advance to Dexerto's Josh Taylor for the original story!
Back in January, Matthew Ball published his annual “State of Video Gaming” report for 2025, and he made a rather bold statement that has since snowballed into a hotly debated topic.

"There is hope that Take-Two will price GTA VI at $80 or even $100,” Ball stated in his report, “thereby breaking a key price barrier and enabling the rest of the market to move up, too."
Since then, the topic has been unavoidable online. Some are alright with paying a premium for GTA VI, whereas others think it would set a bad precedent.
Thankfully, a man most famous for his inability to string basic sentences together and his efforts to inspire a new generation of children to gamble their life savings away has decided to jump into the debate; Twitch streamer xQc.
“Gamers will buy 5 early access, half baked $140 games and sprinkle $300 worth of skins in a year, but when a AAA company goes all out and take their time to make the most anticipated polished product we know they can make, suddenly $100 is too much? Stop talking,” xQc wrote in a post on Twitter.

The replies are negative across the board however, which has restored a little bit of my faith in humanity.
“Bro...such a mid take. Why should I levy the cost of a game dev that takes 10 years and a billion dollars to make a product?” commented user @Discordia_Ch.
“If they sell it for 60, they'd still make a profit. $100 is ridiculous, and there is no defense for it.”
“I don’t think you can really have an opinion on this when you’re a multi millionaire,” replied user @hzjoe03.

“It’ll be an issue for lower income people who struggle to even afford AAA games at their current price. It only takes one game at a higher price for the industry to follow.”
Whether or not you think GTA VI is worth $100 is beside the point, because its price will set a standard that other publishers will take advantage of. If they know you’re willing to spend extra on one game, they’ll know you’re the type of easy mark that will spend $100 on another.
Then, things will continue on this trajectory until, suddenly, every AAA is $100. Video game publishers have proven time and time again that if you give them an inch, they will take a mile.
Shout out to xQc for taking a minute out of his busy schedule of lazily reacting to other people’s content and gambling in front of 13-year-olds on sponsored streams to bootlick one of the richest video game publishers in the world though.
